High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Had the lunch special. Tomato soup and American BLT. Soup was very creamy and could have eaten more. BLT with a slice of American cheese on toasted sour dough bread excellent. Had a $5 perk reward so lunch cost only $1.99. Wish Applebee's had the NFL package on Sundays as they used to have several years back. If they did would be here every Sunday for good food and drinks.

OK, I know Applebee's is a national chain. What is nice about a chain is consistency of the menu - you know what to expect when you order. What is nice about Applebee's is that they do change up the menu on a pretty regular basis and keep the things that are good and add new items of interest from time to time. Today I went to this particular Applebee's with a group of friends after a meeting. It was delightfully relaxing. We were able to be seated in a timely manner without a wait, our server, Tom, was attentive but not overly pushy. I was able to break out of my rut and try something new. I got spicy shrimp roll up sandwich and substitued Onion Rings for fries. The sandwich was yummy, with just the right amount of heat and there was an adequate number of shrimp in the sandwich that there was shrimp in every bite. I highly recommend this menu item. The others in my party also seemed pleased with their food. The steamed broccoli looked fresh and there was pleanty of it. The steaks looked good (two in the party order steak) and the other person ordered a different wrap sandwich and it looked good, she said it was good. For desert the four of us shared a chocolate molten cake. YUMM! The cake was moist and the ice cream not melted. It was a great meal tooper. Applebee's tend to vary not so much in the menu but the atmosphere of the particular store. The atmosphere at this store was not loud and allowed for conversation and enjoying our time together over lunch. I would definitely visit this store again when I am in the area.

Great place to grab a dinner with a pint of great locally brewed beer by yourself or with friends! Applebee's is located in the Overland Park business center, close to Marriott hotel, which makes it an attractive dining option. Sit in and catch up on your favorite sports or have a take out. Either way you can't go wrong. Welcoming cool atmosphere with nice personnel will help you to unwind after a long day. Dimmed lights, hearty food, and friendly people around are a part of the deal. I had a medium done sizzling steak plate topped with crispy onions and caramelized mushrooms. Perfectly cooked mash potatoes on the side made a great side. The plate was sizzling hot, the exact way I like my dinner meal. The bartender was knowledgeable and attentive, suggesting locally brewed beer. The only thing I wished would change is the serving of the beer glasses on the regular napkins, which get easily wet and quite unpleasant. Otherwise, great experience, I'll be back!

Was out of town at a wedding for one of my fraternity brothers. About 4 of us decided to get lunch and let me say we do not regret it one bit. This Applebee's was sort of your typical Applebee's look but with a slightly different flair. We just made it in within minutes to get the lunch specials and glad we did I had the pick two the Mac and cheese with honey pepper tenders on top and a turkey stacker half sandwich. Let me just say this was awesome I loved it all very good selection. The bartender was the bomb I'm not a big drinker but she promised me I would love her Long Island and let me say she was right. Not only could she make drinks but the lady was quick on her feet with her come backs. My fraternity brothers were coming at her with their slightly inappropriate jokes but in good fun, class and professionalism she came right back at them did not miss a beat. We had a great time!!

Went here 3 times in a few weeks time frame. 3 different servers in the bar area, however the same bad service each time. Was with a party of 6 and each time at least 1 item was sent back. Beers ran empty. Ticket was dropped off early even though we were going to continue drinking. Place was dead every time. That should give you a good idea of why to avoid this location.

Wow. HORRIBLE SERVICE. No wait. Bad food. Waitress didn't check on us at all. Took 20 min to get everything we flagged her down to ask for. Got up and got our own napkins. Wasn't busy. When waitresds came back the ONE TIME , she said, how do you want to do the bill? Aleah might be the worst waitress ever.

Went for desserts. Great soft chocolate lava cake. Very generous portion. The waitress was a bit too informal. Sitting down with us when taking the order, checking in on us while walking by - not stopping...talking to us from behind the bar...they have technology to order food through pads but they don't seem to be connected. So you can use it to look at pictures of dishes but placing an order, calling a waiter or asking for the bill doesn't work. Otherwise the restaurant was clean and at 8.30pm on a Thursday there was plenty of room.

Just ate here and the guy came to our table like 3 times. I had a water bottle in my purse and I ended up taking out my own water and filling it up because he did not come back to fill the water at all. Plus he was not very friendly.

One of the worst experiences I've had at an Applebee's before! The only good thing was the food! When we got there we didn't wait long but our server wasn't very interactive. We sat in the bar area and at one point there was like 5 or so servers sitting in a booth and they were gossiping. Also the bar tender shouted from across the bar to a customer instead of going up to him and asking! We waited for a while for our check cuz our server was off talking in the booth! All in all service was bad and wouldn't recommend going here!

Pathetic service The gal that seats people was unresponsive and kept looking at me not knowing what to do or inviting me in. I said table for 1 and and strolled lazily pointing me to a seat. I ordered a beer right away and the waiter took 10 mins to get a beer. Really at 10PM it takes 10 minutes to get a beer when there are 10 people in the restaurant. I asked any veggie options and it was like he was hearing what veggie is and got lost and came up with no suggestion. Now visiting applebees again.

In the past you could often find me on a Friday at the Applebee's on Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, that change a couple of weeks ago. A girlfriend and I met at Applebee's for lunch. We normally enjoy good food and good service, the exception was a couple weeks ago when our server was discourteous to us. The food was good however our lunch was ruined by our server. He was abrupt with us and refused simple requests we made of him. He even brought our soda refill to us in paper cups. My recommendation is Applebee's is a good place for a nice and quick lunch but you will want to avoid this location.

It's a chain, it's consistent, it's not gonna knock your socks off. The only time I ever go to Applebee's is after ten o'clock, when most other places are closing and the reverse-happy-hour pricing kicks in. The Guy & I often order a few half-price appetizers for a late-night small-plate meal. Here, the plates came out fast and the margaritas were fine, so no issues. I can't rate them particularly highly for creative cuisine, though... they've had the same boring app menu for years. Same old buffalo wings, spinach-artichoke dip, chicken quesadilla. ***yawn***

OK, first of all, I want to say that this review is more for their unique lunch concept than for the actual food. The food at Applebee's is pretty much the same everywhere, with a few rare exceptions, so I won't bother to comment on that. But this location is a testing ground for new concepts, and their newest is their "express lunch". I was in the Kansas City area visiting my kids, and decided to meet up with my daughter on her lunch break from work. Since Applebee's was right next door, it seemed like a logical stop. When we walked in, there were lots of signs advertising this new "express lunch", so we decided to give it a try. Now....the sign says that the purpose of this is to speed up your lunch process to get you back to work faster. In concept, it sounds good. You go to a counter to pre-rder your food before you're seated. You get a number to take to your table, and then are seated by the host. The ordering process was a little confusing, as they have an "express menu" on the wall (think of a Wendy's menu or an airport "express counter") but then they also tell you that you can order from the regular menu. To top it off, I think the woman working the register was new, since the manager had to help her with all of our entries. But finally, we got our orders in and were seated. Our drinks came relatively quickly, within a couple of minutes. However it then took over 40 minutes for us to get our food. What happened to "express"? The server never bothered to stop by our table to check on us, to offer to check on our food, or even acknolwedge us (the manager had brought our drinks.) She was more focused on sweeping the floor and wiping down unoccupied tables. The only thing that I can think of that's "express" about this whole setup is that you've already paid for your food before you sit down, so there's no waiting for the check. When we were ready to go, we still had to wait for the server to bring us a box, and eventually my daughter just walked up to their spot where they kept all of their take-out supplies and got it herself.

Pick up is so EASY! Alyssa is great on the phone and in person. There is very little to no wait in the pick up section and they come right out to you. The food is always delicious and they are my go to every time I want to be happy.

The meal was great! I ordered the shrimp scampi linguine and asked to sub in penne pasta for the linguine. I ate the entire bowl! The waitress we had at the bar was very sweet and we enjoyed her company. My biggest concern about this particular Applebee's, is that as soon as you walked in, it SMELLED awful! Almost as if the floor had been washed with month old water, mixed with old food. It made you question how clean the place actually was. My other concern is that they are out of martini glasses! Definitely not good! Overall, good food, questionable smells!

I'm writing this on my iPhone since I'm really pissed - this just happened. My kids wanted to eat here before heading to the airport to get out of here. I wanted Taco Bell which was an indefensible position after I found out that they had tex mex here, even though it wasn't the Doritos Locos tacos. Anyway I had soda spilled all over me by the waiter. Half assed/hearted "sorry" and three napkins and that was it. My jeans are entirely soaked and the only other option to wear on the flight home is dirty basketball shorts. Fail. Epic fail. Spill stuff on your customer = start kissing ass because that dry cleaning bill is not going to be a freebie and hopefully the soda does not seep into other clothes in the suitcase, as segregated as much as was possible rearranging stuff unnecessarily in the pouring rain after changing in the SUV. Not happy. You should never come here. Yelp elite power: activate! And make sure this franchise shuts DOWN.

My husband and I love coming to this location regularly. We get great service, especially from Derisa. We don't go to any other Applebee's in the KC metro area. Rarely is something wrong with our meal and if it is, the manager is there to apologize and remove the cost from the bill. Totally recommended!!!

I have not been to Applebee's in over a decade, despite the fact that because they are headquartered here in KC, that they are "kinda locals." The reason is fairly self-explanatory: it's a concept chain, and I always prefer small business support and creativity over big box marketing cash cows. I'm not saying I haven't been to many Outbacks/Joe's Crab Shack/Red Lobsters in my day, etc. I'm just saying, in the last 6 years...maybe 5 of those. To be honest, the food was not as much of a letdown as the service. I came in expecting to get the same or worse as I could cook up at home. The waiter routinely forgot things we ordered - be it hot water or onion rings - and was inattentive at best. The best thing about this place is their chocolate mousse shooter. Really, quite good, and at $1.99, a no brainer at the end of a rather average meal. The giftcard I got from a business colleague got redeemed, and I probably won't return to Applebee's until I get another giftcard.

Not a chain guy (Chilis, Applebee's, TGIF), etc) but not much else around so I figured why not for just one night. Sat at the bar. Service at the bar was good and friendly. Had the burger and fries - not good! I will remain a non- fan of chains. Guess I am spoiled. Although I did have a Chilis burger once and it was pretty good...

I travel to OP for work on a regular basis so I've been here before. I was surprised to see some of these negative reviews, but I decided to try again anyways. I ordered a steak with garlic mashed potatoes for pick up at the carside to go. steak was cooked perfectly, but had little seasoning or taste. The garlic mashed.... ugh. it is amazing to me they could even "mash" such an undercooked hard potato without noticing it wasn't fully cooked. To top it off, I received no utensils despite checking the box online when I ordered. I won't be back until I see things have changed.
